Dominic Kelly, 33, decided not to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court or make an application for bail.
He will be in court on January 30, when he is scheduled for a committal hearing after being charged with armed robbery and associated offences mid last year.
Mr Kelly has been charged with nine offences including reckless conduct endangering life and dangerous driving while being pursued by police.
It’s understood he is suffering back pain and will be medically assessed while in custody.
Mr Kelly was granted bail on December 1 with a surety of $5000 but his mother withdrew the surety after he failed to return home soon after being let out of custody.
Police allege detectives and undercover officers were on patrol in west Warrnambool last Thursday about 2.30pm.
Ten minutes later a white sedan driven by Mr Kelly stopped on a Fitzroy Road nature strip.
He was wanted by police after a warrant was issued for his arrest last month.
Unmarked police cars came from opposite directions to try and box in Mr Kelly, who tried to turn west and then east to avoid officers.
He accelerated heavily and rammed a police Ford Territory causing significant damage and then continually tried to push past the police vehicles.
The unmarked police station wagon then disabled Mr Kelly’s car by pushing the rear end into a nearby fence.
Officers found a small amount of heroin and prescription medication on Mr Kelly and there were false number plates on the unregistered vehicle.
A woman in Mr Kelly’s car, Jennifer Miller, 33, has been charged in relation to petrol drive-offs and the thefts of confectionery.
She is withdrawing from heroin use, also decided not to appear in court and was remanded in custody until February 19 when she is expected to plead guilty to the charges.
