Purcell, who took over training Ciaron Maher’s stable after he was suspended for six months has trained two Group One winners in the last three months and has three runners at the final Melbourne metropolitan meeting for the year.
Purrhaps, Lite’n In My Veins and Guizot all have the Purcell polish on what looks to be a tough day for punters but he rates Guizot as his best chance of success.
“I would love to win one or two races at the last city meeting for 2017,” he said.
“I think Guizot is my best hope. He’s down in class but up in weight. He’s been very consistent he should be competitive.
“Purrhaps is an honest filly who won strongly at Bendigo two runs back while Lite’N In My Veins has been slightly disappointing since coming from Perth but his work on the training track has been pleasing.”
Warrnambool trainers Matthew Williams, Symon Wilde and Jarrod McLean all accepted with horses for the Sandown meeting.
Darren Weir’s Warrnambool satellite stable has numerous runners on the program.
