Wood’s children Natalie, 39, and Ben, 43, will be competing in the fun run with encouragement from siblings Ebony, 32, and Annalee Coomber, 36.
“Dad started it off as something for his football training and then just kept going every year,” Ebony said.
“Dad was upset when he missed one and made sure he ran every year.”
The Surf ‘T’ Surf was always a part of the Wood’s summer plans.
“Guess for us as kids the Surf ‘T’ Surf was a big part of our summer traditions,” Natalie said.
“Being in the back of the tent helping to sort out entries and prizes and setting up of the marquees.
For us kids the Surf 'T' Surf was a big part of our summer traditions.

“It’s big part of summer for us, so to be here and be able to run and continue the tradition is really good way for us to remember dad.”
Ben hopes that the event can become a big yearly tradition for their families.
“This year it will only be just the two of us,” He said.
“We will plan to have the four of us running next year and then hopefully getting the kids involved and having a nice little team going every year.”
The Surf ‘T’ Surf will take place on January 7.
