Stormy Max Shepherd, 33, now of Glenview Drive, appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Wednesday for the continuation of a bail application.
After being arrested on Saturday, he applied for bail in court on Monday and that hearing was adjourned part-heard so other investigations could be undertaken, including Mr Shepherd's assessment for a Court Integrated Service Program.
On Wednesday the court heard that Mr Shepherd was suitable for the CISP support, he could live with his parents in Warrnambool and a medical appointment had been made through the Warrnambool Base Hospital.
Magistrate Peter Mellas told Mr Shepherd the option of moving back to Melbourne was not available to the accused man.
Mr Shepherd was released on bail until December 18.
His bail conditions include a $1000 surety, a 10pm to 7am curfew, to live with his parents, comply with the CISP and not leave Victoria.
The magistrates said the reasons he granted bail included Mr Shepherd’s lack of prior court appearances, the potential delay in analysing drugs, his mental health issues and the availability of support services.
Tuesday: A FORMER Warrnambool man caught with a range of drugs has been remanded in custody after being charged with eight counts of trafficking illicit and prescription substances.
Stormy Shepherd, 33, now of Sunshine West, appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday for a bail/remand hearing charged with 18 offences which is expected to be finalised on Wednesday.
Senior Constable Robert Wilson said police received information last month that a man was coming to Warrnambool twice a week trafficking drugs.
Officers had a description but it took until this week to put a name to the face.
Last Saturday at 4.40pm Mr Shepherd was arrested at the Sherwood Park train station on a warrant for failing to appear in Sunshine court.
Officers found 12 capsules of cocaine, a rock of cocaine and two zip lock bags of cocaine.
There were also 12 zip lock bags of ice, almost 10 grams of ecstasy, MDMA, 30 tabs of LSD, 50 Oxycontin tablets, another 50 tablets of prescription medication, a mobile phone and a weapon.
Senior Constable Wilson said there was little call history on the mobile phone but the phone received a number of queries on Saturday evening from people wanting to know Mr Shepherd's whereabouts.
Mr Shepherd said he suffered from a bipolar condition, had not worked since having reconstructive surgery on a shoulder and he was under the care of mental health professionals.
He is being assessed for the Court Integrated Service Program.
The case has also been adjourned until a contest mention in February next year so the mobile phone can be analysed.
