The grants are awarded twice a year with funding rounds opening on November 1 and May 1.
Vice president Bernie Waixel said the grants provided financial support to community groups and not-for-profit organisations that built a stronger community within Port Fairy and district and showed significant benefit to residents.
He said the grants committee looked at all applications up to $20,000, funding up to 50 per cent or $10,000, and larger amounts were referred to the committee.
Mr Waixel said examples of eligible projects could include the development of new facilities, maintenance or environmental projects, the acquisition of equipment and funds to purchase sports equipment.
Groups that can demonstrate ongoing sustainability or who promote local arts and cultural activities will also be considered.
Applications close November 10. For more information email admin@portfairyfolkfestival.org or call 5568 2227.
