Club secretary Sharon McGowan said it was pleased to be one of 1000 sporting groups from across Victoria chosen as part of the life-saving treatment rollout.
To date, 900 of the 10000 defibrillators available have been allocated to groups.
“It is a bonus for us because you never know when things can happen at a speedway event,” McGowan said.
“It will be very handy for us to have.”
Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney said it was a boost for the Laang club.
“Having quick and easy access to a defibrillator, along with people trained in first aid and CPR, is crucial to saving lives,” she said.
McGowan said the club, which will run its first meeting of the 2017-18 speedway season on December 9, was also on its way to acquiring the land its track is on.
It’s raised $30,000 of the $50,000 required to purchase the land from owner Jack Willsher.
She said the club hoped major fundraising would help it reach its goal.
