From beaded gowns to shimmery jumpsuits, practical pinafores and floaty sundresses all occasions were covered.
The annual event attracted 31 entries from students from Emmanuel, Brauer and Mercy colleges across daywear/casual, formal/evening wear and open categories.
The senior open winner was Angelique Van Antwerpen with her eye-catching design which featured engraved shoulder plates made using lazer technology.
The strapless, backless, princess-line dress was dip dyed naturally using raspberries and coffee beans and was created using recycled and locally-sourced materials.
Monique Jones won the people’s choice award with her ‘elements’ themed dress. Monique wove metres of copper wire into fabric using a four shaft weaving loom which she joined using individual fabric lengths to make the dress which weighs almost 25 kilograms.
Alle-Jane Sellens won the junior section with her summer dress which had a gored bodice with binding, short sleeves and a lace-up back.
Julia Lenehan won the creativity award, while encouragement awards went to Carly Schnerring (junior) and Georgia Billings (senior). Runners up were Gaun Bright (junior) and Georgia Lewis (senior)
Organiser Sherree King said entry standards were high and standouts included Angelique Van Antwerpen and Monique Jones’ creations. “It’s over and above anything I’d expect to see from a year 11 student so it’s great to see,” Ms King said.
