The forward was crowned division two grand final series most valuable player following her dominant performances in the Mermaids’ clean-sweep over Wallan Panthers.
She scored a double double – 17 points and 13 rebounds – in their 44-point game one rout on the road before sinking a game-high 21 points in their hard fought 70-58 series’ deciding game in front of a bumper home crowd at the Arc.
White said she was thrilled to play a role in the victory – and the re-emergence of representative female basketball in her home town.
“It’s awesome. I haven’t won a grand final here on the home court for about four years or five years and grand finals bring us together,” she said.
“It’s huge for Warrnambool basketball and girls basketball and hopefully it only goes up from here.”
White said she was humbled to receive the MVP nod.
She was a constant threat on the floor, playing 71 of a possible 80 minutes across the two games.
“I was a bit surprised but I am stoked. Credit to my teammates for getting me open,” White said.
“You work hard all season so I am really excited about it.”
Amy Wormald was prolific with 11 points and nine boards, while Holly Greene produced a double double (12 points, 14 rebounds) in the win.
Teenager Lily Killey also sunk six points in an important stint off the bench.
