Ross, a Russells Creek defender, is planning to shut down East Warrnambool goal attack Lena Wright in an elimination final on Saturday.
It will come just three days after Ross held off Wright to clinch the Warrnambool and District under 17 netball competition’s top individual prize by five votes.
“I’m a goal defence, and Lena is a goal attack. She’s a really strong player and we could end up playing on each other,” Ross said.
“We finished fifth. We had to beat Merrivale last week to qualify for finals and we did, so now we’re preparing for East.
“It’ll be interesting to play Lena’s side. It's going to be a really tough game.”
Old Collegians big-man Darcy Giblin (22 votes) snared the under 17.5 football best-and-fairest from Kolora-Noorat’s Luke McConnell.
He said he was “shaking” moments after accepting the award in front of a packed house.
“I’m still shaking. It’s pretty amazing,” Giblin said.
Giblin said Collegians was itching to face off against South Rovers’ under 17.5 side in finals after a number of close contests.
“We drew with them early on in the year, and then they managed to beat us last week,” he said.
“We’re really hoping we can get one back over them this week.”
