Bodies Of Conflict is on show at the WAG until September 17, and Gane will be on hand to discuss the display at a floor talk at 1pm on Saturday.
The exhibition features a number of terrariums, including four that Gane’s mother gave to her while she undergoing cancer treatment.
Bodies Of Conflict presents these terrariums in an immersive installation which also features footage from an echocardiogram of Gane’s heart taken when she was first diagnosed with cancer.
Gane’s work has been displayed at the Victorian College of the Arts, Deakin Uni’s Sherwood Gallery, the Abbottsford Convent, and Toei Studios in Kyoto, Japan.
Her varied artistic career began as a member of experimental all-girl band Tukan Sam, who were a winner of triple j’s Unearthed competition in 1998 and gained national airplay. Gane holds various art degrees and is a member of The Southern Ocean Sea Band
