Bellamy’s Organic is in the process of raising $78.2 million from the issue of new shares and aims to spend $28.5 million of the money to buy a 90 per cent stake in CDI’s Melbourne factory.
However a spokesman for Bellamy’s said the proposed acquistion only involved CDI’s Melbourne canning factory and CDI would retain its other assets.
CDI demolished much of the former Camperdown Bonlac factory in 2015 as part of plan to build a plant producing infant formula and milk powder.
However no construction has since taken place.
