WorkSafe made the statement to clear up any confusion about minor amendments it had made to the wording of its public statements regarding ROPs on farm quad bikes.
The wording amendments were part of an agreement that led quad bike manufacturers to drop a Victorian Supreme Court case against WorkSafe.
WorkSafe said it still believed ROPs on farm quad bikes were an appropriate safety measure if there was a risk of rollovers.
It said if a worker was injured on a quad bike without an ROP and there was a rollover risk, the employer was at risk of being prosecuted.
