Cr Doukas will be one of seven identities competing in the Koroit Irish Festival’s Big Fat Irish Pizza competition, with the mayor saying he was still “finetuning his secret recipe”.
It’s a case of the more creative the better with judges encouraging participants to celebrate the Irish connection by colouring or adding different ingredients to their pizza. Committee member Adele MacDonald said the competition was a quirky and fun way to celebrate the Irish connection with the Italians and Greeks. “Anything Irish goes with the pizza making,” Mrs MacDonald said.
“We could be seeing green bases and as for Irish toppings, things could get quite interesting. There have been whispers that one contestant may simply top their pizza with mashed potatoes and sauce.”
It’s on at the Koroit Village Green at 3.45pm.
