Collins, 17, believes he can better his first-round runner-up finish at Phillip Island – a feat he achieved after three 10-lap races on Sunday – at Wakefield in three weeks’ time.
“It’s a track that suits my riding style. It’s more tight and technical,” he said.
The Warrnambool College student, who is juggling year 12 commitments with his passion, finished fifth in his super sport debut series and is aiming higher in 2017 on his Suzuki.
“We had a really good off-season, working with the team and developing the bike a lot,” Collins said.
“I did work at Defy Fitness – we went into this year a lot fitter.
“Last year was a learning year...this year we have more experience.”
The super sport season consists of seven rounds.
