Third-placed Red will battle its Warrnambool rival on Saturday in an effort to maintain pressure on Koroit Blue, who hold second.
McMahon said he expected the usual culprits – Red, Koroit and Warrnambool Gold – to lock horns for Western District Bowls Division premiership glory.
“It doesn’t matter which colours are playing each other because the battles are always tight,” he said.
“I think most clubs would be happy to take fourth place. It’s better now than it was that Koroit have come up – it used to be just us and Warrnambool.
“We only just missed out on the grand final last year and that just came down that Warrnambool were better on the day, knocking us out in the preliminary final. It’s a tight competition.”
Elsewhere, Lawn Tennis Red will look to back up its first win of the season when it locks horns with Warrnambool White on Saturday.
Koroit Blue will continue its pursuit of a premiership when it battles Mortlake Blue at home. Port Fairy will host Dennington, while Warrnambool Gold face off against City Memorial Gold.
Terang Green is also set to host Timboon Gold in a mid-table clash.
