Attendees were dressed in their best, but some of the crowd had taken it a step further and adopted fancy dress. A squid costume, a kilt and fluorescent pink wig were all spotted on the day.
Camperdown costume shop owner Sandra Drake, who has been coming to the cup for 25 years, said she was pleased to see the fancy dress trend take off.
Ms Drake said in all her time attending, she couldn’t recall a bad experience.
“Everyone is always friendly and happy and having a good time,” Ms Drake said.
