With the help of several businesses and the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners, Lions Clubs members from Murray River communities of Barooga, Strathmerton and Katamatite visited Mortlake and Warrnambool on the weekend, delivering parcels and goodwill.
Barooga Lions Club president Linda Ryder said the aim was “to take a bit of pressure off” struggling dairy farmers.
“It’s about spreading Christmas cheer and letting them know they’re not alone,” Ms Ryder said.
“Farmers are the backbone of this country and if we don’t look after them we’re screwed.”
