Niddrie had called Ballarat home for three years, studying at Federation University, while Youl was juggling an apprenticeship with duties for the North Ballarat Roosters.
The pair decided the time was right to return to the Friendly Societies’ Park.
Niddrie, who finished his final university exams last week, will make up part of a youth-laden side topped with polish in the form of its newest recruits.
The 22-year-old will join Youl, James Hussey, Matthew McVilly and Sam Thompson in returning to the Roosters’ nest.
“It’s all pretty exciting. I’ve been away for three years now and I’m excited to get back home and to play with my mates,” he told The Standard.
“Liam and I had spoken about coming back and it made sense. I finished my degree, and he finished his apprenticeship.”
As a South Warrnambool junior, Niddrie has a winning culture ingrained within him.
His versatility meant he was used all over the ground through his time in Ballarat, with a main focus on a midfielder-forward role for his two clubs.
He said he wasn’t sure how he would be utilised in second-year coach Mat Buck’s system, but said he was excited to form part of the side in any role.
“I want to enjoy my footy first and foremost but the aim of playing finals is definitely there,” Niddrie said.
“I think Bucky has put good things in place.
“My main aim is to play the football it as it comes for us.”

Despite a three-year absence from the Hampden league, Niddrie has continued to put work into his development as a player.
He plied his trade with the Redan Lions for one season in the Ballarat Football League, before making the switch to Learmonth in the Central Highlands league.
Niddrie also captained the Federation University side during his tenure as a physical education teaching student at the Ballarat campus.
