Formerly listed with the Western Bulldogs, Rhodes will replace premiership mentor Darcy Lewis in the Dogs’ top job.
Rhodes was also formerly an assistant coach at the kennel.
Meanwhile, Sue Fleming has returned to the helm of Dennington’s A grade netball side in an effort to secure a premiership three-peat.
The South West Healthcare nurse coached the side to a flag in 2015, before handing over the reins to Katie Burt for 2016.
Dennington president Clinton Hall said the club was thrilled to welcome Rhodes and Fleming to the roles.
“They’re very experienced people to have on board and it is great result for the club,” Hall said.
“Everybody looks up to them and that is a great thing to have at the club.”
