Pocket The Black is the latest release from the Adelaide trio, who were named group of the year at last year’s Australian Blues Music Awards.
This year has seen the band play in the South Pacific and Tennessee, regularly gig around Australia, and crowdfund and record Pocket The Black.
It’s their fourth album and the trio – Mario Marino, Erica Graf and Evan Whetter – will play 23 shows over two months to promote it, including at Warrnambool’s Victoria Hotel on Friday night. Combining organ, harmonica, guitar and drums, Lazy Eye describe their new album as “Booker T sharing a scotch with BB King at the crossroads after midnight”.
The trio won best blues album for their debut release Move Me at the 2013 South Australian Blues & Roots Awards. They were also named best blues artist at the 2014 South Australian Music Awards, and were nominated for song of the year at the 2015 Australian Blues Music Awards and most popular blues/roots artist at the 2016 South Australian Music Awards.
