Fablice Manirakiza will visit Emmanuel College with his mentor Paulie Stewart of Jesuit Social Services.
Manirakiza is originally from the central African nation of Burundi, but following the death of parents he was forced to become a child soldier.
He eventually came to Australia as a refugee and now performs as a rapper, as well as touring schools with Stewart and occasionally performing with Stewart’s band Painters & Dockers, who are also performing in Warrnambool on Friday night.
Manirakiza, who performs under the name The Flybz, recently completed his first TED Talk and has recorded a single with Aussie music legend Paul Kelly called Child Soldier.
The 23-year-old is also president of the Burundian Community of Victoria.
