Helen Bunyon, Jude Stewart, Teresa O’Brien, Maurs Fitzgerald, Madeleine Peters, Judy Rauert, Kate Melican Rollo, Marion Tate, Jenny Vick, Kylie Elkington, Tricia Page, and Ruby Richardson have teamed up for the display which opens on Friday night at Outlaw Gallery in Warrnambool.
The exhibition is titled Broad, which is both a cheeky acknowledgement of the all-female line-up as well as a reflection of the diversity of subject matter, styles and backgrounds of the artists involved.
Described as “a visually challenging and technically accomplished exhibition”, the display offers “powerful but never preachy visual translations” of a range of themes and is yet another example of the incredible surfeit of artistic talent in the south-west.
Broad will be officially opened on Friday at 6pm by Dr Natalie Ryan and runs until October 2. Outlaw Gallery is located in the old Fletcher Jones building.
