Naringal farmer Hayden Ballinger said while there were arguments for a complete overturn of the board, he urged voters not to go down that path.
“We need to retain people with experience as well as new people,” he said. “To spill completely will leave no one able to offer insight.”
Seven nominees – almost double the usual number – will vie for three Western Region supplier-director positions, covering Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
The nominees include Dairy Australia director Lisa Dwyer of Hawkesdale, Harper Kilpatrick of Koroit, and real estate agent David Falk of Timboon who is a co-owner of a Scotts Creek dairy farm.
They join Bradley Plozza of Scotts Creek, accountant and Mount Gambier dairy farmer Matthew Rosenberg, Craig Dwyer of Bullaharre near Cobden and incumbent director Martin Van de Wouw.
Ballot papers have been sent to stakeholders and voting will close on Monday, August 29 with results announced the following day.
