The charge follows the discovery of the 44-year-old woman’s body by family members about 3pm on Wednesday.
The man has been remanded in custody to appear at Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday, June 27, for a filing hearing.

VICTORIA Police Homicide Squad detectives have taken control of an investigation into the death of a 44-year-old Port Fairy woman.
Detectives made an application in Warrnambool court on Friday to interview a 31-year-old Port Fairy man arrested and charged after a family violence incident last Saturday that allegedly involved a hammer.
The woman allegedly suffered fractures and bruising and was hospitalised.
Family members found the woman in her Elizabeth Street home on Wednesday.
