The 196-centimetre key position prospect – one of four South Warrnambool teenagers on the Rebels’ 2016 list – kicked a season-best three goals against Oakleigh Chargers on Saturday.
Beks said he was starting to impact more contests after enduring a slow start to the TAC Cup season.
“I got in the Vic Country (initial) side and things turned around from there and I’ve been happy with my last few weeks,” he said.
“I am starting to grab the ball better. My hands weren’t there at the start of the year.
“I have to keep presenting up to the ball and when I am out of position, working back. The game against Calder a couple of weeks ago was my best.
“I felt most comfortable and got a bit of it (the ball) and the last few weeks have been solid.”
Beks, who lives in Ballarat with fellow Hampden exports Charlie Lee and Nick Hausler, is hoping to represent Vic Country at the AFL under 18 titles in June.
“At the start of the season that was my main aim because I tried out last year and didn’t get in,” he said.
The building apprentice, whose sporting ability stretches to the cricket pitch, said North Ballarat was benefiting from a wealth of Hampden league talent in 2016. The south-west league is providing up to half the Rebels’ side each week.
“Drewy (Willem Drew) and Gowy (James Gow) are consistently in the best players and Hughie (Hugh McCluggage) is killing it,” Beks said.
