Vice Chancellor David Battersby told The Australian newspaper on Wednesday Federation University would be in a good position to take over the campus due to similar missions and strong links to the south-west.
In the same article, he pointed out the university’s success after taking over the Monash University campus in Gipplsland in 2014, where enrolments are expected to rise by 200 this year.
Professor Battersby was unavailable for comment when contacted by The Standard.
So far Federation University is the only organisation to confirm it has had “informal” discussions with Deakin about the campus.
