WEST Warrnambool opening bowler Simon Johnson finished the job he started to lead his team to victory in its Warrnambool and District Cricket Association Hopkins conference clash against Wesley-CBC. Heading into day two, Johnson had 6-6 to have Wesley-CBC on 6-25 chasing 101. Johnson helped clean up the lower order on Saturday, finishing with 8-17 as the Beavers were bowled out for 52. The Panthers batted a second time and were 5-98 at stumps.

West Warrnambool coach Michael Townsend said it was an important win.
“We know if we want to play finals we have to keep winning,” Townsend said.
“We are playing well at the moment. We bat to number 11 and we have eight blokes who can bowl.”
