Warrnambool Magistrates Court had previously described Jaiden Schneebeli, 22, of Rodgers Place at Bushfield as a “crap driver”.
The convicted drug trafficker pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool court on Friday to handling stolen goods, driving while disqualified, careless driving and breaching a suspended jail sentence.
Schneebeli appeared in the court last week after causing a head-on collision on the Woodford Bridge.
The court heard Schneebeli was driving a stolen Toyota ute on Plumbers Hill Road at Bushfield about 1.50pm on October 20 when he became distracted and collided head-on with a four-wheel drive ute. No-one was injured but the vehicles were extensively damaged.
Schneebeli admitted he was driving while disqualified and told police he bought the ute for $10,000.
Magistrate John Lesser said Schneebeli had an appalling record for a young driver and did not take enough care or pay enough attention while driving.
He said it was lucky Schneebeli had not seriously injured himself or others.
He jailed Schneebeli for four months.
After his release, Schneebeli will serve a 12-month community corrections order with conditions to complete 150 hours of community work, treatment for alcohol and offender behaviour programs including a road trauma awareness program.
He was also ordered to pay $13,559 restitution for the ute along with $1050 in property which was not recovered. His licence was cancelled for another six months.
The court heard that two years ago Schneebeli pleaded guilty to trafficking amphetamine after making up to $10,000 a week and was jailed for two months with a further four months suspended.
Schneebeli returned to court in March last year and pleaded guilty to drink driving, careless driving and unlicensed driving after causing two accidents.
His licence had been disqualified after being caught hoon driving.
Schneebeli crashed his mother's Mitsubishi Lancer into trees after drinking alcohol at a pool tournament.
Less than two months later, Schneebeli was back drink-driving when he crashed into a parked car in Banyan Street, Warrnambool.
