Grizzly Adams Men’s Grooming, in Ozone Lane, opened two weeks ago and owner Mia Nicolson said it was in the style of a traditional barber’s shop.
Ms Nicolson, originally from Warrnambool, completed her hairdressing training in Melbourne, before opening Biba Warrnambool hairdressing salon on Timor Street.
Already busy with the salon, Ms Nicolson had a desire to open a barber shop in the CBD.
“I’m a glutton for punishment I think,” she said. “I’ve always loved this space and the laneway.”
Ms Nicolson said the landlord of the building was supportive of her business venture, and he had turned down an offer for higher rent money for the space to be used as a storage facility.

“The landlord was open to something new, which was great,” she said.
The shop features a mural by Warrnambool artist Maddi Peters.
Warrnambool’s Alex Francis has spent 17 weeks learning traditional barber techniques in Melbourne and will work in the salon.
