Tom Gedye, Zac Norton, Lori Boyd and Chelsea Darkin make up the South West team, which will take on other promising young tennis players from metropolitan associations and country regions across Victoria in the mixed under 12 competition.
The quartet were selected from tryouts at the Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club a couple of weeks ago – with the top two boys and top two girls going through – and have been playing tennis for years, according to Tom’s mum Tracy.
“It’s a great opportunity for them to play against the top other kids their age,” she said.
“They’ve been playing a long time – they all probably started when they were nine or 10.”
The cup will be held as a round robin event, consisting of singles and mixed doubles matches, at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club across Saturday and Sunday.
