Magic Zephyr, who is trained at Weir's Warrnambool satellite stable, spread-eagled his rivals to win a $80,000 benchmark90 race by more than four lengths at Moonee Valley on Saturday. The impressive victory follows on from Magic Zephyr's win at Moonee Valley on November 13 and is only his third start for the Ballarat-based trainer.
Weir said he will freshen up the four-year-old after his win over Imperial Lass and Red Fella in the 2500 metre race.
"It’s pretty hard to turn them when they go like that,” Weir said.
“But maybe we might give him a month off and head to something like the Warrnambool Cup, that might be a nice race for him.”
Hamilton Racing Club wil host an eight race program today with the first race scheduled for 1.10pm.
