Police Sergeant Leigh Wheatley, of the Warrnambool police family violence unit, said Jarrod Cole, 28, of Moore Street, was arrested and charged with eight domestic violence-related offences including reckless causing injury.
There was also a warrant out for Mr Cole's arrest in relation to Geelong driving offences dating back to January involving an alleged police pursuit.
Sergeant Wheatley said police investigations were continuing in relation to allegations Mr Cole evaded police on Wednesday afternoon in the Wanstead Street area.
Mr Cole unsuccessfully applied for bail in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court.
Bail was refused by a magistrate and Mr Cole was remanded in custody to reappear in court on Thursday.
Police alleged that on September 14 Mr Cole was verbally and physically aggressive towards a woman, pushing her and then kicking her to the back.
The woman fled the house, was chased and caught and the assault continued.
There was another incident later that night and police were called.
On November 16 Mr Cole attended at an east Warrnambool home and was believed to be under the influence of ice.
The following day he stole the woman's keys, phone and cash.
Another incident happened on November 20 when the couple argued, he grabbed her by the throat and threw her to the floor.
She fled into a neighbour's yard, Mr Cole went looking for her in a car, found her and dragged her back.
Police allege he kicked and punched her, forced her into car and took her to a friend's house.
He later began drinking, became angry and the woman fled, flagged down a passerby and was taken to the Warrnambool police station.
Mr Cole was arrested by Warrnambool police at his Moore Street on Thursday when he was found hiding under a bed.
