Mr Guy tweeted “Thank you South West coast for a big win. Almost done and at 60.4% a strong endorsement for Roma Britnell”.
The Victorian Electoral Commission will officially declare the poll on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Guy’s office has been contacted for comment.
EARLIER: LIBERAL Party candidate Roma Britnell’s is likely to be declared the new member for South West Coast on Wednesday.
With just over 90 per cent of the vote from Saturday’s by-election re-counted, Mrs Britnell has 60.40 per cent of the two-party preferred count, well clear of independent candidate Roy Reekie who has 39.60 per cent.
The Victorian Electoral Commission originally counted the two-party preferred vote between Mrs Britnell and National Party candidate Michael Neoh.
On Monday, a re-count was started after Mr Reekie polled a stronger primary votes than Mr Neoh.
Mrs Britnell secured around 40 per cent of the primary vote, a significant drop on the result achieved by former MP Denis Napthine at the 2014 state election.
Mr Reekie secured about 17 per cent with Mr Neoh third with about 14 per cent.
