Warrnambool export Marc Leishman was part of the combination team which defeated Team USA in the four-ball event 3-2 at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club.
Their triumph came 24 hours after the Internationals suffered a 4-1 foursomes defeat. The Americans lead 6-4 overall after two days’ play.
Leishman and fellow Australian Steve Bowditch suffered a two down loss to Bubba Watson and J.B Holmes in the four-ball event. The American duo took until the 18th hole to shake them.
Watson and Holmes grabbed the lead on the second hole before Leishman and Bowditch levelled proceedings on the sixth. Team USA went one up on the seventh before the Australians struck back on the 11th.
The Americans regained the advantage on the 12th and maintained that buffer until the final hole.
