The club, which moved into the revived Timor Street squash centre in March after the closure of the Action Indoor Sports Centre, will have a come ‘n’ try session on Sunday.
The session, which is aimed at new players aged between eight and 17, will run from 11am to 2pm and will cover racquetball and squash.
Committee member Paul Daffy said the junior season would run on Friday afternoons, starting from the second week of the school term.
Two senior pennant competitions, on Mondays and Wednesdays, have attracted almost 100 players, with officials hopeful that interest will extend to the junior ranks.
“Because it was closed for two years, to get it up and going again was a major effort by volunteers,” Daffy said.
“Because we’ve now got a base that’s permanent, we have a way of moving forward with the juniors.
“We’ll have another working bee up there but there’s also a sub-committee looking at future options.”
Daffy said the club would provide racquets, balls and goggles to juniors keen to test themselves at squash or racquetball.
He said Warrnambool Primary School and Emmanuel College had used the facility during the school term, a sign there was growing interest in the sports.
