Foster hurt his ankle against Camperdown in round two, souring his 200th Hampden league senior game celebrations.
The interleague representative’s long layoff has robbed the young Bombers of midfield grunt.
Cunnington said Foster’s impending return would give Cobden a boost in the second half of the season.
“He’s started training and is progressing pretty well,” he said.
“He’s keeping it under wraps about when he is going to return but he is looking pretty sharp.
“With the pre-season he put in, he’s the fittest he’s ever been.”
