THE Esperance community is continuing to prove it has had enough of drugs by providing information to help police make drug-related arrests in the town.
Last week detectives arrested and charged three people, on a total of 14 drug charges, as part of an ongoing operation to target the dealing of methamphetamine in the town.
Esperance Detectives arrested and charged a 29-year-old man who was found in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia last Tuesday.
The man was charged with nine drug offences including possession of methamphetamine, cannabis and MDAMA, possession of a cannabis plant, intent to sell and supply methamphetamine and four charges of possessing smoking utensils or drug paraphernalia.
Esperance police also received information from the public that two local people were involved in selling methamphetamine from hotel and resort accommodation to avoid detection.
It is alleged that the pair left behind packets of methamphetamine in a room after "partying" at a local resort.
When detectives found them on Thursday they were in possession of illicit drugs and a search of a 27-year-old man found 23 packets of methamphetamine believed to be packaged for sale. Seven similar packets were also found on a 27-year-old woman during the search.
The pair have been charged with a series of drug offences including possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell and supply and possession of drug paraphernalia in which there was a prohibited drug or plant.
They will appear in the Esperance Magistrate's Court this month. This news comes following several other recent arrests by Esperance police stamping out drug dealers in area. More than $23,000 of drug money along with ecstasy, methamphetamine and cannabis were seized following a series of drug raids in Esperance the week before this latest raid.
And, earlier this month Esperance detectives arrested 10 people believed to be methamphetamine couriers, dealers or users in the Esperance area.
Esperance Detective Sergeant Noye said police would continue to target drug dealers in the region.
"The community has had enough of the scourge methamphetamine. With the assistance of the community we will identify the dealers, and if you want to be a drug dealer then we will come after you," Detective Sergeant Noye said.
