The 44-year-old presently serves as the water authority’s strategy and innovation manager but will replace Grant Green in the top job within two months.
Mr Jeffers has worked at Wannon Water and its forerunner, South West Water, for the past 15 years and has also worked at other water boards elsewhere around the state.
Originally from Mildura, Mr Jeffers’ wife Catherine originates from the Western District.
“I’m really excited — I’ve worked for Wannon Water since it was established and I’m excited about its future,” he said.
“I’ve worked in the strategy and innovation space for some time now and we’ve achieved many great things over the past few years and I hope to build on that success.”
Mr Jeffers holds a bachelor degree in civil engineering and masters degrees in business administration, as well as environmental engineering.
Wannon Water chairman John Vogels said the board was delighted to appoint Mr Jeffers as its new chief administrator following a rigorous recruitment process.
“The board was unanimous in its decision to appoint Andrew and we look forward to working with him as we tackle the various challenges and opportunities in the years to come,” Mr Vogels said.
Mr Green advised the Wannon Water board earlier this year he would resign as managing director after a decade at the top.
Both Mr Jeffers and Mr Vogels said the retiring managing director had been an exemplary leader over the past decade and wished him well in his retirement.
