Shane Cashill, Brendan Keane, Debbie Keane and Jacinta Marney collected the mixed fours crown in Melbourne on Sunday.
They fought back from 15 shots down to produce a stunning 29-19 victory against South Group.
Cashill said a shaky start threatened to derail Warrnambool’s title hopes.
“We were in a bit of trouble early in the game — we were actually 15-nil down,” he said.
“It looked over fairly early.
“We turned it around and played fairly solidly in the last half of the game.
“We probably all thought we were no chance but we stuck at it and hung in there.
“On paper we went in as favourites but you never know in a game of bowls.”
The best 16 mixed fours teams in Victoria contested the knockout competition in Sunshine.
Warrnambool won 14-end games against Goulburn Valley, Heytesbury and Ballarat to book its spot in the grand final.
Cashill said the south-west team was thrilled with the result.
“The trophy goes back to 1995 and no Warrnambool team has won it in that time,” he said.
Three of the quartet — Cashill, Brendan Keane and Marney — have tasted state success before.
The mixed fours triumph was Debbie Keane’s first Victorian crown.
Cashill, Keane and Marney were part of the Warrnambool team which finished mixed fours runner-up in 2014.
Meanwhile, Warrnambool teenager Liam Keegan was runner-up in the Victorian junior boys’ section on Sunday.
Keegan finished second on a countback after playing four round-robin games consisting of 16 ends.
He was invited to state trials on June 22 in Melbourne.
Keegan represented Victoria last year.
