The five-year-old gelding ($12) delivered his trainer and jockey a moment to cherish when he won a benchmark 78 handicap over 1100 metres.
The two-length win from Grand Emperor ($5.50), with Mio Dio ($3.50) third, was a first success for Warrnambool’s Bowman after 10 months as a trainer.
Horsham’s Yendall rode his sixth winner of the carnival, up from his previous best of “three or four”. Four of those were achieved yesterday. Bowman, whose first son Charlie Roy came into the world seven days ago, said the win “tops off a great week”. “It’s right up there. It’s a big thrill,” he said.
He thanked the owners for putting faith in him to train Lucky For You. The son of Argentinian sire Husson was purchased at a Patinack dispersal sale last year.
