As part of the build up to the carnival, Warrnambool Racing Club officials have taken the Grand Annual Steeplechase trophy and jockey silks on the road, visiting Lyndoch Living and Mercy Place.
For Mercy Place resident Mary Hulin, it was a chance to remember her time working in the tote during the carnival, saying it was always great fun because she didn’t get to many large events.
The carnival theme begins on Sunday with the annual racing Mass at St Joseph’s Church.
