The baby – suffering severe respiratory problems – was taken from her Gillieston Heights home in an SES boat to hospital.
Maitland paramedics and police conducted the operation about 11.30am.
“We’ve dispatched an SES boat with ambulance paramedics to the Cessnock side of Fishery Creek to collect a four-month-old baby who is seriously ill and needs to get to hospital,” Inspector Brian Tracey from Maitland police said at the scene.
The baby remains in a stable condition in Maitland Hospital.
