Benjamin William Jago, 32, of Griffith Street, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court after a contest mention hearing this week. He pleaded guilty to drink-driving, speeding and unlawful assault.
Police alleged that on January 12, Jago was intercepted by police about 9pm in Griffith Street after being clocked at 94km/h in a 50km/h zone. He had a blood-alcohol reading of .169.
On November 7 last year, Jago and his partner had been out drinking. When Jago arrived home he passed out and his then partner called him ridiculous and pathetic.
Police alleged Jago tipped over a coffee table, grabbed the woman by the hair and made a threatening comment.
She rang police who attended and found her in a distressed state. Jago was asleep. Jago had denied being involved in a physical altercation.
He was convicted and fined $1350 with $113.90 costs. His driver’s licence was disqualified for 16 months.
