The Ride for Fuel aims to raise funds for Missionary Aviation Fellowship, which provides air transport to remote and impoverished communities in several countries.
Both men have personal links with MAF — Mr Hodgens while he lived in Papua New Guinea for four years and Mr Adams during his involvement in the Middle East for a decade.
The men have stepped up their training in preparation for the Tasmanian event, which starts on Easter Saturday. “MAF was very good to me in flying me in and out of remote locations and I want to repay them in some way by doing the ride,” said Mr Hodgens, who pastors the Warrnambool and District Baptist Church.
Mr Adams, an accountant, said MAF depended on public support for its volunteer pilots and ground crew.
