TYCOON Tara may have booked herself a run in the $600,000 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill after she notched up back-to-back wins with a gutsy victory at Caulfield on Saturday.

The Symon Wilde-trained Tycoon Tara was trapped wide in the early stages of the 1400-metre group 3 Mannerism Stakes before jockey Ben Melham drove her to the front at the 700m mark. She was never headed again.
The Warrnambool mare, which was sent out $3 favourite on the back of a Bellamine Stakes win a fortnight ago, won by a neck over Choose ($9), with Street Allure ($21) in third place.
Wilde said the four-year-old’s win was astonishing.
“We always knew she had good talent and I reckon today she stamped herself as a good mare because not everything went right,” he said.
“I’ll have a chat to the owners and Ben and just see what they think about the 1500m in Sydney, but I think we should aim high.
“I think that with a mare in form you probably have to keep going and she is a happy horse at home.
“We train her from the paddock and she does a lot of work on the beach.”
Melham said Tycoon Tara had been underrated during her short career.
“She did a terrific job. I was just a bit concerned about working up the hill and obviously she meets these horses a bit worse in the weights off her win the other day,” Melham said.
“I was happy to be wide and we weren’t going quick and once we went up the hill I was happy to go to the top and control the tempo. She is a very underrated mare.”
Wilde, who took over training in his own right last August after being in partnership with his dad Bill, said a start in the $400,000 group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville on April 25 was another option for Tycoon Tara.
“I would say at this stage I favour a run in the Coolmore, but we may end up going to the Sangster Stakes,” he said.
“I’ll have a talk with the owners over the next few days about our options. We’ll let the dust settle for a few days before making any other plans.
“The win of Tycoon Tara is extra special because we are truly a Warrnambool-based stable. We are very lucky because a lot of our owners are from the Western District. The stable is also lucky to have such great staff who are very passionate about their jobs.”
