The 12-year-old Warrnambool East Primary School pupil has his work adorning the walls of Red Hart Studios as part of a solo show titled Captain Haddock.
Alexander, who has Down Syndrome, does art at school but also takes additional art classes with Warrnambool artist Patrick Tonks, Alexander’s father Phillip Annett said.
“He’s always enjoyed drawing and we thought it would be good for him to get into it a bit more,” Mr Annett said.
“It’s a stimulus for him, getting him thinking and looking outside the square.
“Patrick has been bringing a lot of different things out of him, bringing different skills out.”
The colourful exhibition is named after a character from the Tintin adventures, created by Belgian artist Herge.
“Oh yeah, he’s a big fan,” Mr Annett said.
Red Hart Studios is located in Cyma Street, Warrnambool, and is open from 2pm to 6pm Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The exhibition runs until the end of February.
