A tip-truck carrying a front-end loader and a late-model Mazda sedan collided at the intersection of Princess and Banyan streets just after 1pm.
The truck, which was heading south on Banyan Street, was tipped on to its passenger side by the impact. The Mazda was severely damaged to its front end.
Senior Constable Steve Grey of the Warrnambool police highway patrol unit said the female driver of the red sedan and the truck driver escaped almost unscathed.
“There was a van in front of her turning left which blocked her view,” he said.
“She didn’t see the truck coming and they collided.
“She received a bump to the head and was in a bit of shock. Both the driver of the car and the male driver of the truck were lucky not to be seriously injured.”
Banyan Street was blocked between Princess Street and Cramer Street while heavy haulage equipment was brought in to right the truck and front-end loader.
