The Bombers announced a significant profit at their annual general meeting on Wednesday night and are poised to start the 2015 Hampden league with unprecedented committee support.
President David Buckle was re-elected for a third term at the helm as a committee of 19 people was installed.
The size of the committee is more than double what it was about four years ago, with familiar faces Chris Walsh re-elected as vice-president and Kelli Pekin as secretary.
“The support off field has been terrific,” Buckle said.
He said the Bombers had more than 60 people attend an information meeting about committee roles with the club.
Buckle said the club, which hopes it is only days away from announcing a playing coach for 2015, had enjoyed a strong year financially.
He said the club’s profit in the past year had exceeded the previous 12 months.
“We were happy with 2013 and we are very happy with 2014,” he said.
He said a string of surpluses meant the club would be investing back into the Cobden Recreation Reserve facilities.
Top of the list was an upgrade to ground lighting, which would be completed over summer in time for the club’s night games and pre-season competition.
An upgrade of the club’s gymnasium was also on the cards.
The Bombers kick off their pre-season training tonight with Camperdown personal trainer Nick Hose overseeing the fitness program.
Buckle said the Bombers had a panel of players and experienced coaching staff in place to help run pre-season training until the club’s new coach was announced.
“Things are looking pretty good,” he said.
