More than 2000 people took part in the fund-raising festivities for Warrnambool Primary School with warm weather conducive to outdoor activities.
Pony rides, chair swings and milk-crate stacking kept the youngsters entertained while attendees with a more relaxed approach perused the fair’s many market stalls.
With the mercury hitting 25 degrees on Saturday afternoon, Warrnambool Primary School principal Peter Auchettl said conditions were ideal for the annual event.
“It was a terrific day,” Mr Auchettl said. “It’s not only about getting the school community together in the one place — parents, grandparents and so on — but inviting the extended community to come along as well.
“We were very fortunate with the weather.
“We rarely have a bad day for the fair and we were lucky to have favourable conditions again this year.”
The school’s annual fund-raiser started life as a general market but has grown over successive years to include carnival-style rides and even showbags.
“We try to mix it up and have something to offer all age groups,” Mr Auchettl said. “In its formative years, we had a straight market but now we have a variety of things on offer.”
