He is nominated in the feature/photographic essay category of the prestigious national awards for his project, titled Hayden.
Praised by the judges as a "striking and beautiful" photographic essay, Jim's work came through winning the trust of severely autistic and mildly intellectually disabled Hayden McLean, 35, who he had been sent on assignment to photograph.
Jim's work will be toured around Australia in a series of free public exhibitions and will be on display at the State Library of Victoria from October 18 to February 8.
Winners will be announced on December 4 at the 59th annual Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism.
